On the cover: Three Pinetree points. The point on the left was found in Woodford County, Kentucky. It is a first-stage example with absolutely no sharpening. The finished Pinetree point at center, measuring 4 inches long, is from Lawrence County, Tennessee. The point on the right, from Trigg County, Kentucky, is another first-stage example that has been anciently resharpened along one edge. To the eye, it almost resembles a Dovetail point. Pinetree points date to the Early Archaic period. Collection of Dr. Jim Spears, Franklin, Kentucky.
